Samsung T7 Shield vs T9

These portable SSDs solve different problems. The T7 Shield emphasizes rugged field use with IP65 dust/water resistance and USB 3.2 Gen 2 speeds; the T9 emphasizes higher transfer performance through USB 3.2 Gen 2×2. Capacity also matters here: LootBandit is comparing the verified 1TB T7 Shield page with the verified 2TB T9 page, not pretending they are identical variants.

Choose T7 Shield if…

You value water/dust resistance and your computer tops out at USB 3.2 Gen 2 anyway. Paying extra for a Gen 2×2 drive does not create Gen 2×2 speed on a slower host port.

Choose T9 if…

Your system supports USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 and large media transfers are common enough that the higher bandwidth is useful. The verified page here also has twice the capacity at 2TB.

The compatibility trap

A USB-C port does not automatically mean USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 support. Check the host system specification. If your machine only supports 10Gbps Gen 2, the T9’s advertised 2,000 MB/s ceiling cannot be fully realized.
